Review highlights

Based on 1,220 reviews

Bakery Cafe is widely appreciated for its generous breakfast portions and affordable pricing, making it a favored spot for hearty morning meals. Reviewers consistently highlight the exceptional quality of classic diner fare, including well-prepared eggs, biscuits and gravy, and crispy yet tender fried chicken. The service is commonly described as friendly and efficient, contributing to a welcoming experience despite the somewhat dated, old-school cafeteria ambiance. While the decor may feel a bit worn, many find that it adds a certain charm to the establishment. Some visitors note that the local clientele can occasionally be overwhelming, but overall, the combination of authentic Southern flavors and value-driven menus makes Bakery Cafe a popular choice for both locals and visitors.

Was really impressed with the HUGE breakfast portions and really inexpensive prices. Five of us ate till we could bust, and the total bill was only 66. This would've easily been a 100 meal back home. The vibe is a bit old school cafeteria, but the service was friendly and fast. I highly recommend trying the Ranchero sauce on your eggs.

Excellent breakfast! Eggs cooked perfectly and hot, which is rare, unfortunately. Old school diner atmosphere but friendly fast service. We will be back!

Service was great and the food was delicious! The restaurant was a bit dingy but it added to the charm. Locals can definitely be a bit annoying if you sit to close.

This is a true authentic super delicious southern diner. Prices are on point and the food is excellent . The biscuits and gravy are top notch, the hashbrowns are so good and the bacon and sausage are perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection featuring a robust flavor of heavenly bliss. I highly recommend stopping in and getting a hearty meal before your beach adventure. I promise you and the family will not regret it. Parking can be a pain as there is limited street parking in front of the diner, but it is well worth any kind of wait you may experience. We didn't have to wait long for the record, but if you do it's worth it. This food is cooked to order so it comes out hot and fresh!Don't forget to tip your waitress they bust their rears providing excellent service and quality dining

I am very satisfied with the food I ordered from this bakery Cafe restaurant. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and would say that I was surprised that the chicken was not over breaded and had a crisp to it with a soft tender chicken inside that had a good taste to it. There was also a beef vegetable soup that came along with the meal and it was very good it had me thinking of ordering a large portion to go. Will be visiting this place again and thumbs up to the cook very good on taste and portion.

I seriously don't know what took me so long to finally dine at the Bakery Cafe in Aransas Pass. This place was established in 1929!!! Our waitress was so nice and they seem to have plenty of workers! The place is very well kept!We went old school. We started off with an order of basic nachos...refried beans with melted cheese on top of light crispy corn tortillas and an order of beer battered onion rings!! Both were delicious! The onion rings were full of flavor, light, crunchy and sweet. Mom ordered herself a simple bowl of delicious chili and I ordered a Homemade cheeseburger with fries! Everything met our expectations! Been a long time since I've enjoyed a true original homemade cheeseburger! Slice of apple pie for later!

Opened since 1929! Always have great experiences here, been coming here for many years! Right across from H‑E‑B in Aransas Pass, cross the Ferry your here. Best homemade food! They have specials daily. I order the whiting fried fish, add 3 jumbo shrimps, mashed potatoes, fried orca and fresh fries! Carbed it up. Always fresh and hot food. My friend got hot roast beef sandwich! Whatever you get here I assure you it’s always worth a cheat! Very short staff so be patient with them, because they are all so sweet and kind!! ty so much for your consistency
